Como muchas personas de mi entorno ya saben, he sembrado lino en los Viveros de Ulia y en un bancal de la Kulturetxea Intxaurrondo este año. También han sembrado lino en aprox. 150 m2 en Fraisoro, Zizurkil. Debido a mi ausencia por un viaje, hemos perdido el momento adecuado para la cosecha del lino de fibra: hay que recoger los tallos cuando por lo menos la mitad de las cápsulas están todavía verdes y las hojas en la mitad baja de los tallos se hayan caído. Bueno, este año casi todas las cápsulas estaban ya marrones, así que los tallos también estaban amarillos o incluso marrones. Pero sin embargo quería cosechar el lino para saber, qué calidad de fibra se puede conseguir con una cosecha así. O por lo menos para guardar la linaza para el año que viene. Sobre la cosecha en Fraisoro existe un vídeo en youtube. El lino de los Viveros está secandose ahora en el invernadero de las palmeras.
Desgraciadamente, el lino se había caído cuando estaba joven por el viento fuerte y no se había recuperado: por eso, las partes de abajo de los tallos están totalmente torcidas.
As a lot of people already know, I have sown flax again this year in the park of nurseries of Ulia and the cultural center of Intxaurrondo. In the agricultural school Fraisoro in Zizurkil, they have also sown flax on about 150 m2. Because of my absence due to vacation, unfortunately, we have missed the best time for the harvest: you should harvest the flax (for fibres) when at least half of the seed capsules are still green and about half of the flax stalks have lost their leaves. In our case, the seed capsules have been almost all brown already which means that the fibres won’t be of best quality. But as we still want to explore what kind of fibres we can get out of these stalks, we harvested the flax last week (around 10th August). About the Fraisoro flax a friend of ours made a video you can see on youtube. The Ulia flax is drying now in one of the greenhouses. Unfortunately, the young flax plants had suffered some strong winds in spring so the bottom parts of the stalks are very twisted.
